Study No. 10
For his "Studies", Oskar Fischinger produced charcoal drawings which he animated in a second step. Each of these short films required several hundred sketches. These drawings were used as film negatives, meaning that the black shapes are represented as white shapes before a black background in the final film. Fischinger synchronised these non-figurative, non-narrative animations of abstract shapes to well-known pieces of jazz and classical music. This study is synchronised to excerpts from Giuseppe Verdi′s "Aida".
