Agnes und seine Brüder
Agnes And His Brothers
Three brothers in search of happiness: Hans-Jörg is a timid, sexually frustrated voyeur who doesn’t have a chance with women. He uses his job as a librarian to spy on the pretty young students, peering through the bookshelves or through a hole in the ladies’ room wall.
His brother Werner seems a picture of success. With a flourishing career as a politician for the Greens, he lives in an impressive villa with his attractive wife and two children, has a chauffeur and a dog. But behind this façade things are falling apart: his wife Signe despises him and his older son Ralf pursues him with a video camera to make him look ridiculous.
Agnes, in turn, the youngest of the three, is a sensitive dancer who used to be a man. After her jealous boyfriend throws her out of the flat, she meets Roxy in a bar, an older woman who shares her loneliness. With Roxy she not only finds refuge, but also tolerance and trust.
Bound by their unquenchable yearning for love and acceptance, the three siblings have one thing in common: their search for a piece of happiness… After his great success with "No Place to go" and "Angst" (Berlinale 2003) Oskar Roehler has created in "Agnes and his brothers" a profoundly human family drama which he relates with passion, poetry and humour.
