The Feather Fairy

Little Jakob is on the road with a travelling circus when an avalanche buries the performers, wagons and animals. He finds shelter with Lady Winter, where he leads a carefree but isolated life. Jakob flees Lady Winter's kingdom of immortality in search of a normal human existence on Earth, where all sorts of fantastical adventures and obstacles await him. After long battles between Lady Winter and Lady Death, Jakob manages to build a new life for himself on Earth. Director Juraj Jakubisko succeeds marvellously in realising a work of magical realism inspired by motifs from the work of the Brothers Grimm – with a brilliant performance from Giulietta Masina in the role of Lady Winter.
