Matiss Zelcs, an employee at the Latvian National Archives in Riga, meets a young woman on a bridge one night. Not being able to stop her jumping off the bridge to her death, feelings of guilt and failure change his life for ever. He cannot forget her. Driven by remorse he undertakes a day and night long search to find traces of her biography.
