Ziska Riemann
Ziska Riemann was born on 10 August 1973 in Munich and grew up in Berlin. From 1994 to 1997 she trained as an alternative practitioner. In 1999 she received a scholarship from the Drehbuchwerkstatt München (Munich Screenplay Workshop), where she wrote the script for the highly acclaimed grotesque "Die Hunde sind schuld" (2001, TV, Director: Andreas Prochaska). In 2005 Riemann founded the record label MerMer. In 2007 she began studying free painting at the WFK Wiesbaden.
Ziska Riemann made her feature film debut with "Lollipop Monster" (2011). The coming-of-age drama about two 15-year-old friends from dysfunctional families premiered at the Berlinale 2011 in the Perspektive Deutsches Kino section and was awarded the Femina Film Prize for Best Costumes. At the Bavarian Film Award 2012, the film received the prizes for Best Picture Design (Hannes Hubach) and Best Young Actress (Jella Haase). In addition to her work as a filmmaker, Ziska Riemann has been active as a musician, illustrator and comic artist.
As a (co-)author, Riemann was involved in the award-winning documentary "Conny Plank - The Potential of Noise", which was made between 2015 and 2017. In the summer of 2017 she made her second own film: the eccentric, quirky superheroine story "Electric Girl" (DE/BE), which premiered in January 2019 at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival and was shown in cinemas the following summer. Before that, Riemann had already shot her next film, the humorous youth story "Get Lucky" (theatrical release: autumn 2019).
