Der Tiger von Eschnapur
The Tiger of Eschnapur / Tiger of Bengal
Third adaptation of Thea von Harbou′s novel, this time directed by her husband Fritz Lang, the screenplay writer of the first adaptation. German architect Harald Berger arrives at the Indian principality of Eschnapur to build schools and hospitals for the maharajah Chandra. Berger falls in love with Sitha, a beautiful dancer whom Chandra wants to marry. Chandra′s intrigant brother Ramigani also wants to couple Chandra with Sitha because he is planning a coup d’etat. Berger and Sitha manage to flee but are tracked down by Ramiganu′s troops. In the desert, the two lovers get lost in a sand storm and collapse.
