Der Fremde

Willi Palko is tired of traveling. After some years of restlessness, he wants to settle down somewhere. When he arrives in the coal-mining area, the party executive committee sends him to the Schepp brigade. It is assumed that something is wrong with this brigade because the output figures on paper are suspiciously high. Thus, Willi’s colleagues soon suspect him of working for the plant management. Willi, however, does not let the hostility bother him. His strongest wish is to drive the huge digger someday. Furthermore, he has fallen in love with the pretty Hanna. When Willi blows the cover of a Western agent, the reason for the bogus is revealed. Willi is finally accepted for who he is and the brigade’s output figures actually start to rise.
