Mein Freund, der Mörder
Long-term portray of Bernhard Kimmel, a burglar and bank robber, who became known as the "Palatinate Al Capone" who together with his gang robbed up to three safes a night during the 1960s. Director Peter Fleischmann met Kimmel in 1970 when Kimmel finished his first prison term of nearly ten years. Fleischmann started to interview Kimmel and became friends with him. But Kimmel continued his career as a criminal until 1982 when he killed a police officer and crippled another one in the course of a bank robbery, thus putting the friendship between the director and the bank robber who had become a murderer to a tough test. Kimmel then received a life sentence and was released on probation after 22 years in prison which gave Fleischmann the opportunity to finish his portray.
