Tirol in Waffen
On December 2, 1805, Napoleon Bonaparte defeats the Austrian Empire in the glorious "Battle of the Three Emperors" at Austerlitz. Under the terms of the peace treaty, Tyrol was to be handed over to the French. For the Tyroleans, a difficult time under foreign rule begins. Under the leadership of Andreas Hofer, they quickly realize that they cannot stand up to this superior power without outside help. In 1809, a delegation of Tyroleans meets with Archduke Johann in Vienna to discuss a united uprising against Napoleon. The entire nation is now mobilized, and the people are able to take back their country one piece at a time. Hofer moves to Innsbruck and is appointed commander-in-chief of Tyrol by Emperor Franz. But then comes the bad news. Austria has to make peace with Napoleon. The price is Tyrol. Now Hofer finally gives up. In the face of French superiority, he flees to the mountains. But the peace is short-lived....
