Erblich belastet?
As a child, the young journalist Ferry Hudson was taken in by the US newspaper mogul Harrington. But when he asks him for the hand of his daughter Ellen, Harrington does not give his consent, as Ferry's father was convicted of murdering an officer many years ago. When Ferry, who is in the wrong place at the wrong time, is given part of the loot by a fugitive thief, he is suddenly also suspected of complicity. Because he believes him to be hereditarily predisposed, Ferry is disowned by his adoptive father and moves to the Wild West. After he finds proof of his innocence there and is able to unmask the actual perpetrator, Ferry returns home. Soon another turn of events arise, which suddenly calls his father's supposed guilt into question and nothing seems to stand in the way of his wedding to Ellen anymore.
