Frasquita
Based on Franz Léhar's operetta of the same name, the film is a turbulent story of mistaken identity that revolves around two friends, two women and great love. The architect Harald is on a journey with his old friend Hippolyt to meet his future bride, the fun-loving Dolly. On the way, the two friends make the acquaintance of the seductive Frasquita, by whom Harald is so enchanted that he initially wants to stay with her. He sends his friend Hippolyt ahead, but when the latter arrives at the bride's family, he is mistaken for the groom, since Dolly and Harald have never seen each other before. Hippolyt himself is not at all unhappy about this mix-up, because he is quite taken with Dolly. Since Dolly has also lost her heart to the wrong Harald, in the end everyone involved can breathe a sigh of relief ... In connection with the portrayal of the character Frasquita, the film uses antiziganistic stereotypes often to be found in films of this period.
