Munich, 1955. Robert Krohn, a sports reporter, meets former UFA film star Veronika Voss, still an exciting and attractive woman. Robert is fascinated and confused by her individuality and charm and wants to see her again. Finding out her address, he makes an unusual discovery: Veronika Voss lives at her doctor′s.
Dr. Katz, an amiable woman, confirms the fact that Veronika Voss has a room there. As a patient. Robert tries to unravel the mystery surrounding Veronika′s life. He meets her again in a film studio. She is incapable of shooting a small scene and collapses with a nervous breakdown. From her ex-husband, Robert learns about Veronika′s life: the end of her glamorous career at the UFA studios, the disinte- gration of her marriage, her beginning to drink, no more film offers. Veronika has become addicted to morphine. Robert is not capable of controlling his confused emotions.
