Spielfilm
The inventor Franz Xaver Stannebein has constructed a propeller airship which is supposed to allow mankind to rise above its earthly hardships. He lets big business use him to build a runway in Spain - allegedly for his airship. When he realizes however that the runway is to serve the Condor Legion in the Spanish Civil War, he goes back to Germany and complains that he has been betrayed. He is declared insane and locked up in a psychiatric ward, where he becomes a victim of euthanasia. After the end of the war, his eleven-year-old grandson sets off with his aunt to find his grandfather.
