Everything seems perfect in the lives of Andreas and Garda. They are happily married and the young talent Andreas is on his way to the top of his sport. But when the racer suffers a serious accident at the Nürburgring, their happiness is suddenly shattered. To recover, he is sent to Switzerland for treatment. But there, a second shadow is cast on their idyllic life, this time in the form of the beautiful, wealthy Argentinian widow Joan de Portago. When Garda learns of her husband's flirtations, she becomes jealous and begins to fake an affair of her own.
