White Star
In the early 1980s, the has-been music manager Kenneth Barlow who once organized tours for the Rolling Stones desperately tries to return to the music industry and to land another success by turning an unknown musician into an overnight star. For this endeavor, he finds the mousy and easily susceptible synthie-pop musician Moody Mudinsky. Barlow′s plan for Moody is to supersede the punk movement with his "Future" slogan. But ultimately, Barlow is only interested in the headlines Moody is generating. Thus, he stages a brawl during a concert, announces a tour and starts a big marketing campaign. At the campaign’s peak, Barlow wants to stage an assassination attempt on his protégé. But the situation gets out of hand, and a young girl is killed.
