Die goldene Gans
The Golden Goose
The fairytale movie tells the story of Klaus who is called „the simpleton” by his two lazy brothers. Klaus works hard in his small shoemaker’s workshop, since his brothers are unwilling to help him. On one day, he meets an elder lady in a nearby forest who presents him with a golden goose. The goose has magic powers: People with bad qualities such as envy and greed get stuck to its feathers. Thus, Klaus gathers all sorts of people around the goose and himself. When Klaus arrives at the king’s court, his quaint following makes the princess, who has actually lost her laugh years ago, laugh out loud. Her father had announced that whoever should make her laugh should have her in marriage. But since Klaus is a poor shoemaker, the king changes the rules and sets him some tasks. Fortunately, Klaus is smart enough to solve them and eventually gets permission to marry the princess.
