Deborah S. Phillips
Deborah Phillips , artist and filmmaker, is based in Berlin. She studied Fine Arts, Painting and Film in Italy, the USA and in Germany and has been a member of the "Laboratorium" art and filmmakers group (established in Braunschweig) since 1988. Her films, predominately animated shorts, have been shown at festivals around the world and her work is a part of the Goethe Institut program "German Experimental Films of the 1990s". She has also published several art books, created a number of site-specific installations, and has participated in numerous international group and solo exhibitions. Also active as a translator and curator of film programs, her films include: "Untitled Colourmation" (1991-1992), "Three" (1993), "Bread" (1994), "Gegenueber" (1994, co-directed with Thomas Bartels), "A Printed Film" (1994), "Purium" (1996), "Santoor" (1998), "Geographie" (1999), "Mosaic" (2001), and "Noor" (2003). She is currently working on a new project tentatively entitled "Following the Ants" Path", in co-direction with Dagie Brundert.
