Biography
Born in 1955 in Bucharest, Romania, Andrei Schwartz emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1973. He studied Art History and Visual Communication in Hamburg and worked as a freelance art consultant for festivals and exhibitions. From 1989 on, he made news reports for radio and press on current political developments in Romania. He began making news reports for TV on Romania and Russia in 1990. A selection of his films includes: the TV three-parter "Rumänien" ("Romania", 1990), "Auf der Kippe" ("Wasteland, 1997), "Geschichten aus dem Lepratal" ("Tales from Leper Valley", 2001), and "Geschlossene Gesellschaft" ("Jailbirds", 2005).
