Bürgermeister Anna
For the first time after World War II, a young woman becomes mayor of a small village. Anna Drews does a good job, but she has to stand up to some of the reactionary villagers - especially to her predecessor, the big farmer Lehmkuhl. Even her former boyfriend, Jupp, who wanted to marry her, turns out to be more of an opponent than a supporter, because he cannot accept that a woman should hold such a position. Lehmkuhl intrigues more and more offensively against Anna, who wants to push through an unapproved school building. When he fails, he sets the school on fire. Jupp, realizing the full extent of the hostility and, in contrast, Anna's competence and assertiveness, changes his view of equality.
