Rembrandt

Young painter Rembrandt van Rijn's art is well received by his contemporaries. Soon he is well known in Amsterdam, where he and his wife Saskia enjoy a time of economic and artistic prosperity. Yet when Saskia passes away a few years later, Rembrandt's streak of success ends. With his painting style becoming unconventional, he doesn't fit in with the mainstream and alienates customers. When Rembrandt also starts to defy the rules in his private life, he is shunned and rejected by society and eventually dies in poverty in 1669.
