Stefan Trampe was born in Rostock in 1965 and was a assistant director and assistant unit manager at the DEFA feature film and documentary studios from 1985-1989. He had a trainee placement in the DEFA feature film studio from 1989-1990 and has been studying direction at the Academy for Film & Television (HFF) in Babelsberg since 1990. His films are: "Happy Birthday" (1990), "Doberlug" (1991), "Amok" (1993/94) and "Der Kontrolleur" (1994).
