Nachtschatten
Nightshade
Jan Eckmann, a music publisher from Hamburg, wants to buy an old country home in the heathland which he discovered in a newspaper ad. But when he visits owner Elena Berg, she suddenly doesn't want to sell her property anymore. Eckmann learns that the locals suspect Elena Berg to have murdered her husband in the nearby marsh. While continuing his investigation, he feels increasingly attracted to Elena and begins to identify with her deceased husband. Niklaus Schilling's feature film debut as director is inspired by motifs of German romanticism and the films of F. W. Murnau.
