Fallada - Letztes Kapitel
Fallada - The Last Chapter
The film focuses on the last ten years of the writer Hans Fallada. He lives with his family in the 1930s in the rural and remote Mecklenburg and is in a creative crisis. When he is commissioned to write a screenplay, he is not prepared to make the concessions in terms of content that the Nazis expect of him. As he has done before, he once more takes refuge in alcohol and drugs, and his relationship with the maid puts his marriage to the test. At the invasion of the Red Army he becomes temporary mayor of Feldberg. When he starts an affair with a woman who is also a drug addict, his life spirals out of control entirely. In February 1947 Fallada dies in the Berlin Charité hospital.
