Niki Stein von Kamienski was born in Essen in 1961 and studied at the universities of Bonn and Hamburg and Berlin"s College of Arts between 1982-90 and completed a postgraduate study in Film Direction in Hamburg between 1992-94. He made shorts from 1991 such as "Carottes, epinard et l"amour" (1981), "Wir spielen immer" (1982) and "Geisel der Liebe" (1993) and won the main prize at the European Short Film Festival in 1984 for "Vorsicht Sepp!". He has also written screenplays for episodes of the "Tatort" crime series and the SAT 1 pilot "Schwurgericht". "Still Movin"" was his first feature film.
