Servus Bayern
Herbert Achternbusch's poetic tragicomedy is a kind of double portrait. On the surface, the film is a portrait of the poet as a poacher. But "Servus Bayern" is also a very personal portrait of the Free State, of which Achternbusch once said, "I didn't want to die in Bavaria." The protagonist, the failed poet, flees to Greenland because it's not as cold as in Bavaria, since "there's more ice in Greenland, but not as much as here."
