Edgar, a 67-year-old comedian, draws large crowds with his shows, where he humorously tackles the challenges of aging, failed relationships, ungrateful children, waning libido, and the approach of death. Offstage, however, the confident entertainer is a shadow of himself, trying to drown his loneliness in alcohol and fleeting encounters with groupies. When he unexpectedly crosses paths with his ex-wife Eva, who is terminally ill with cancer, the two reconnect. Eva decides to join Edgar on his comedy tour through Germany and Austria, setting off on a journey shaped as much by her advancing illness as by sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. Along the way, Edgar not only rediscovers himself but also finds a path back to his estranged children.
