IRRE oder Der Hahn ist tot

Documentary film about the work of the Freiburger Hilfsgemeinschaft, a drop-in center for people with mental disabilities. It was founded in 1970 during the anti-psychiatry movement and is the second oldest institution of its kind in Germany. In contrast to clinical care, the stay here is more free and less dependent on medication. The film observes everyday life in the institution and allows those affected to speak openly about living with the disease that has torn apart many people's entire existence. The film also explores the question of what is considered "ill" and what is considered "healthy".
