Total Thrash - The Teutonic Story

In three chapters, the documentary looks at the history and development of German thrash metal. The nucleus of the music genre was the Ruhr area in the early 1980s, from where the fast, hard music established itself nationwide, especially in youth circles, as it offered the opportunity to distance oneself from conventional structures. In interviews with numerous bands, concert promoters and fans, the film delves into the social and cultural world of the young people of the time and follows the renaissance of the genre at the turn of the millennium, which continues to unite fans in Germany and internationally to this day.
