Hinterland

In 1920, former detective Peter Perg returns from two years as a prisoner of war in Russia to Vienna, which is in ruins. But the city is undergoing radical change: the Empire has collapsed, masses are out of work; the Republic still survives, but anti-democratic movements are already appearing on the horizon. A stranger in his own hometown, Perg soon finds himself confronted with a series of bestial murders whose perpetrator leaves the bodies in bizarrely disturbing positions. A terrifying personal connection to all the victims awakens in the ex-investigator the urge to take on the case. Together with a young forensic pathologist and a detective, he sets out to catch the brutal killer.
