Julian Brimmers
Julian Brimmers, born in 1986 in the Lower Rhine region, completed a Master's degree in English Studies in Cologne. During his studies he worked as a product manager for the Cologne music label Melting Pot Music and worked for the press department of the British label Tru Thoughts Records, among others. From 2007 he also worked as a freelance journalist.
In 2011, Brimmers became a freelance editor and author for the Cologne creative agency Yadastar, which was particularly active for the Red Bull Music Academy; from 2014 to 2018, he worked there full-time as editor and producer for Red Ball Radio. He produced international radio programmes, presented radio shows, conducted interviews all over the world and wrote texts for the in-house magazine RBMA Daily. As a freelance journalist with a focus on pop culture and current affairs, he also worked for publications such as Spiegel Online, Bandcamp Daily, Spex, SZ Online and Jungle World.
In spring 2019 Brimmers started working for Kickstarter Music. In the same year he realised together with Benjamin Westermann the documentary film "We Almost Lost Bochum - Die Geschichte von RAG" ("We Almost Lost Bochum"), about the history and influence of the German rap band RAG. The film premiered at the Hofer Filmtage in autumn 2019. It was theatrically released in Germany in September 2020.
