Uferfrauen - Lesbian Life and Love in the GDR

Documentary film about a under-explored topic of German history: the film portrays six lesbian women who spent a (large) part of their lives in small and large cities in the GDR. The women with their very different biographies tell of an everyday life that was characterized by the struggle for self-determination, the compulsion to adapt or hide, oppression by the state and social exclusion. At the same time, they also tell of intimate love stories, creativity in family planning and about lesbian solidarity.
