Anton Bruckner – A Giant in the Making

Documentary film about the Austrian organist and composer Anton Bruckner (1824-1896), who was praised during his lifetime as one of the greatest organ virtuosos of his time. His work as a composer was hardly noticed and it was only late in his life that he also received some recognition for his compositions. Today he is seen as one of the most important and innovative music creators of his time. The film, made in collaboration with the conductor Valery Gergiev and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, is dedicated to his work and shows the recording of a complete Bruckner cycle, recorded in the collegiate church of St. Florian in Upper Austria.
