Three pairs of fine-rib underpants hang on the clothesline - framed by the father's large underpants and the brother's somewhat smaller ones, Marie's downright tiny girl's panties hang lost and hopelessly dominated between them. This image from the film alone makes the power relations abundantly clear. Today, Marie is a filmmaker, played by Margarita Broich, and is in the midst of a creative crisis. And somehow this mirrors her entire crisis-ridden life, in which she had to laboriously develop her own identity as a girl and woman against the male domination of her father. In a mix of documentary and feature film elements, the renowned documentary filmmaker Petra Seeger took inspiration from her own experiences. In the film she condenses them into a portrait of the male-dominated 1950s and 1960s using original footage, and introducing various time levels. With a lot of situational humor and emotionally moving, multi-layered self-reflection the film takes its viewer on a journey into the past.
