In his documentary, director Matt Sweetwood goes on a trip to explore Germany's unique beer culture: He visits breweries, talks to passionate beer drinkers and even attends a "Hops Queen" pageant – at which the girls not only have to be pretty, but also must prove that they can hold their liquor. During his journey across Germany, he witnesses absurd dimensions of beer consumption, for instance in the vast beer tents at the Oktoberfest, but he also shows how the shared love for beer overcomes social barriers and brings together people from all walks of life.
