Dokumentarfilm
Sacrificing your entire personal life for religion is something hardly anyone in today's society can imagine doing. But there are some who deliberately choose just that. Four women tell about their lives as Upasika (female buddhist lay followers) in one of the biggest buddhist temple complexes in the world - the "Wat Phra Dhammakaya" in Pathum Thani, Thailand. Through non-consumption, they try to escape the constraints of the everyday world in order to lead a fulfilled and self-determined life. With them, there are more than a thousand other Upasika in the temple. As it turns out, it is harder to get away from worldly influences than it seems.
