Bye Bye Hello - Hong Kong 1997

Hong Kong 1997 - Chuen, a fine-art-student in Berlin, visits his native town during the reunification on July 1st `97. He visits his father, his grandmother’s grave, his hairdresser „No.1“, old friends... and he wonders if he should return to HongKong for good. He is accompanied by Yingli, who grew up in Bejing. She also lived in Berlin while studying at the Film-Academy.

On the annual comemoration day of the Tien-Anmen-Square massacre a demonstration in Hongkong leads both of them to question themselves about their national idientity. Yingli meets friends, writers and filmmakers, who are concerned about the city in transition.
