Das Herz von Jenin
The Heart of Jenin
The documentary film "Das Herz von Jenin" ("The Heart of Jenin") accompanies Ismael Khabits on a trip through Israel that has a special personal meaning for the Palestinian: In 2005, his then 12-year old son Ahmed was fatally wounded in the Jenin refugee camp – by bullets shot by Israeli soldiers. Directly after this tragedy, Ismael decided to donate his son’s organs to Israeli children in order to save their lives. Two years later, Ismael embarks on a journey through Israel to visit those children who are now living with his son’s organs.
