Magie der Moore
They belong to the most underestimated domestic habitats: moors. Often they are right on the doorstep, home to an incredible flora and fauna and yet they are usually mostly associated with shivers and danger. The documentary does away with these prejudices and shows the great variety of flora and fauna that are found in moors in Germany and other European countries. Director Jan Haft and his team filmed 500 days to capture rare phenomena and show all the spectacular facets of the moor. However, many moors are not only idyllic habitats: peat is still often mined, despite the fact that moors are able to bind huge amounts of carbon dioxide and are therefore important for our climate. Even though renaturation has been underway for some time now, they are diminishing further, which poses a danger not only to the many moorland inhabitants.
