While over 50 million people worldwide were fleeing from war, hunger and persecution in 2014, only 200.000 men and women applied for asylum in Germany during that year. Nevertheless, a hysterical fear of more immigration prompted public demonstrations against planned asylum shelters in several German regions. Focusing on a rural district in Northern Germany, the documentary depicts the effects of the housing of traumatized refugees in small communities.
