Vor Einbruch der Dunkelheit
The film "Vor Einbruch der Dunkelheit" (Before dusk) shows the everyday life of a few faithful drive-in cinema visitors in the small village of Zempow in Brandenburg. Because of the bad developed economy and cultural area the drive-in, founded in the Seventies as the first cinema of its kind in the GDR, has become an important meeting and communication spot. Unemployment, missing perspectives, the loss of friends and relatives who moved to other places for work, or the life as a commuter are reality of life for a lot of the cinema audience here. With their Portraits the film shows the hopes, dreams and passions of these people and what it’s like to live in this part of former East Germany.
