Biography
Mia Kasalo who was born in Berlin in 2003 had her acting debut in the movies while in elementary school. In the mystery thriller "Du hast es versprochen" ("Forgotten", 2010-12) she played the key role of a disappeared girl. Ramon Zürcher's much acclaimed poetic intimate play "Das merkwürdige Kätzchen" ("The Strange Little Cat", 2011-13) held another pivotal role in store for her – she played the main family's daughter. On TV she was part of the ensembles of "Die Kinder meiner Tochter" (2012) and "Alle unter eine Tanne" (2013). She received critical praise for her role in the drama "Blindgänger" (2015) in which she played a refugee child living in Dresden who suddenly faces deportation. In 2016, Mia Kasalo starred in "Amelie rennt" ("Mountain Miracle - An unexpected Friendship"), a theatrical release that premiered in the 2017 Berlin IFF section Generation Kplus. She played the title role, an asthmatic girl who runs away from the sanatorium and joins a boy on an adventurous mountain hike. "Amelie rennt" received awards at various children's and youth film festivals and opened in German movie theaters in September 2017. Mia Kasalo went on to play the title role in the new TV series "Das Pubertier" based on the novel by Jan Weiler in the early fall of 2017.
