Helmut Schuster
Helmut Schuster studied Psychology, Sociology and Art History in Frankfurt and Fulda. In Hessen Helmut Schuster gained first job-experiences whilst working with asylum seekers and tutoring international youth and art projects. 1990 he opened Gallery Schuster, together with his wife Claudia. Between 1990 and 2011 the gallery had branches in Berlin, Paris, Frankfurt, Offenbach and Miami. Today Gallery Schuster is an internationally established art gallery for modern art, with show rooms in Berlin and Miami. For many years Helmut Schuster has been the spokesman for the Frankfurter Galerienvereinigung and writes reviews for national and international art magazines. He also produced the art talk show "Artpersonality" and ran and hosted the pilot show in the German Guggenheim Museum, together with host Ulrich Kienzle.
Since 1990 Schuster has curated numerous group exhibitions and in 2003 he conceived the Berlin art project “Schauhallen”. In 2010 he organized the art auction “Berlin for Haiti” in Miami, which featured international artists, museums and art associations. As an expert and juror Helmut Schuster works nationally, as well as internationally. He was part of the committee for the Scope Art Fair New York, organized the SCA art prize, was a participant of the architectural discussions for the master plan of the Berliner Kunstforum and was an assessor for the F-Stop Festival in Leipzig. "Scissors and Glue" is his debut as a film director.
