Summary
Study No. 2 - Dancing Lines
For his "Studies", Oskar Fischinger produced charcoal drawings which he animated in a second step. Each of these short films required several hundred sketches. These drawings were used as film negatives, meaning that the black shapes are represented as white shapes before a black background in the final film. Fischinger synchronised this study of non-figurative, non-narrative animations of abstract shapes to short pieces of music from the backcatalogue of Electrola. Electrola eventually used this study to advertise their music.
