Biography
Nanouk Leopold was born on July 25, 1968 in Rotterdam. She studied at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy and at the Rotterdam Academy of Visual Arts. She began directing projects for Dutch television before making her feature directing debut with "Iles flottantes" in 2001. Her film "Brownian Movement" screened in the Berlinale's Forum section in 2011 and was the first film by her with a theatrical release in Germany.
Her adaptation of the novel "Oben ist es still" premiered in the Panorama section of the 2013 IFF Berlin. The film about a farmer trying to free himself from his domineering and dying father garnered many positive reviews and was released theatrically in Germany in June that same year.
