Gil Taylor successfully tries himself as a journalist reporting from the court of justice. Chivalrously helping young Ann, who is brought before the judge, he suddenly finds himself married to the girl. Albeit the grotesque circumstances, Gil slowly falls in love with Ann, whom he believes to be a wealthy heiress. Trying to prove him wrong, Ann goes to any lengths.
