Biography
Sophie Kluge, born in 1983 in Munich, studied film studies in Paris and subsequently got her masters degree in Directing in London at Kings College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. After completing her studies she worked in the Old Vic Theatre in London and as an assistent director in the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
Her first short film "Ein flüchtiger Moment" (2008), with Josef Bierbichler as the lead role, was shown at the Hof International Film Festival and at the Landshut Short Film Festival. Her short films continued to be shown at international festivals; among them her short film "So wie wir hier zusammen sind" (2010) starring Karoline Herfurth. With Herfurths subsequent directorial debut "SMS für dich" ("Text for You", 2016) Kluge was part of the five person screenwriting team. Kluge's feature film debut, the coming of age film "Golden Twenties", premiered at the Munich International Film Festival 2019. Its theatrical release followed in August 2019.
