Biography

Philipp Eichholtz was born in Hildesheim on October 22, 1982. Growing up in Osnabrück, he already made short films as a teenager. In 2005, he completed his training as a film editor and won a newcomer award for his short "Der letzte Abend". He continued to screen his short films at festivals, while also working as a line producer on feature film and TV productions and helming numerous music videos.

In 2008, he made his feature-length debut with the documentary "Meine Daten und ich". Eichholtz' second feature "Liebe mich!" premiered at the 2014 Hofer Filmtage and revolves around a young woman who is both abrasive and alluring in her unconventional demeanor.

In January 2016, "Luca tanzt leise" ("Dancing Quietly") premiered at the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis. The film about a woman in her mid-twenties, who seeks to gain her high school diploma after years of depression, received very positive reviews and was released in German theaters in January 2017. Like his previous works, Eichholtz’ next feature film "Rückenwind von vorn", ("Away You Go", 2018), focused on a young woman in the process of self-discovery. It premiered at the Berlin IFF in February 2018 and was released in German cinemas a month later.
