Summary
Doctor Wagner is a scientist and currently working on an experiment for the Asta company in East Berlin. Should his ingenious invention turn out be successful, the company would be independent from the expensive material copper. However, Wagner becomes the victim of sabotage and the all-important experiment fails. Wagner, who cannot explain this setback, lets a West German campaign tempt him to escape the GDR. It is not until he arrives in West Berlin where the radio station RIAS wants him to propagandize against the GDR that Wagner finally understands the bigger picture. With the help of the business assistant Hans Henning, one of his daughter Inge’s admirers, he eventually manages to return to East Berlin.
