Yvonne Catterfeld was born in Erfurt on December 2nd 1979. At the age of 15, she was already taking piano, guitar, singing and dancing lessons. Graduating from school, she enrolled at the Academy for Jazz and Pop Music in Leipzig. In 2001, she released her first single, and from 2002 to 2004, she starred in the German soap opera "Gute Zeiten – Schlechte Zeiten", thereby gaining high popularity among the young viewers.
She successfully continued to record and perform as a singer, with the track "Für Dich" eventually reaching No. 1 in the German charts. Catterfeld was also cast in the lead role of the short-lived TV series "Sophie – Braut wider Willen" and has since then significantly expanded her acting career: Her screen appearances included small parts in "Sterne, die nie untergehen – Atlantic Affairs" (2002) and "Keinohrhasen" (2007), followed by her first top billing in the war movie spoof "U-900" (2008).
