Dominik Reding, born 1969, in Dortmund, studied architecture in Aachen from 1989 to 1993 and subsequently worked for several German architecture firms, for instance, in Düsseldorf and in Hamburg. In 1993, Reding also started to study film at Hamburg"s Hochschule für bildende Künste and successfully graduated three years later. During this time, he already finished several short films that were shown at international festivals, including London and Los Angeles, among others.
After finishing his studies in 1997, Reding started to make his first feature film together with his twin brother Benjamin. The poetic drama "Oi! Warning" (1999) that is located in the skinhead scene won critical respect and received the award of the 1999 Film Festival "Max Ophüls Preis", among other awards. Seven years later, the two brothers presented their second film for the movie screen, "Für den unbekannten Hund", blending a melodrama with a social background study.
